The Paper Surface Centre at Karlstad University engages Attana Contract Research

Under the supervision of Professor Lars Järnström the Paper Surface Centre at Karlstad University has engaged Attana Contract Research to gain information about the interactions between the different components in starch-based dispersions

Stockholm, December 15th, 2015 – The Paper Surface Centre at Karlstad University, has during the year engaged Attana Contract Research. Under the supervision of Professor Lars Järnström, the group researches about temperature intelligent packaging. Starch–based temperature responsive dispersions have a potential to be used in active and intelligent packaging when it comes to temperature indicators, 3D printing, etc.

“The aim is to gain information about the interactions between the different components in starch-based dispersions. From previous studies we know that mixtures of starch, silica particles and temperature responsive triblock copolymer are temperature sensitive. The structure in these mixtures can be controlled by temperature changes. With the use of Attana’s QCM, the temperature dependent kinetics of adsorption and desorption of triblock copolymer on silica surfaces can be investigated.” comments Prof. Järnström.

Attana CEO, Teodor Aastrup adds, “The research that Prof. Järnström and his team performs with active and intelligent surface fits well with the high resolution in kinetics on surface that Attana works with. We are happy to be involved in such an interesting research.”
